OVERVIEW

Skyscraper Construction Expertise by Macdo Engineering

A skyscraper is a tall, continuously habitable building with multiple floors. While there is no universally accepted definition, modern standards typically classify skyscrapers as structures that are at least 100 to 150 meters tall. These high-rise buildings often serve a variety of purposes, including office space, hotels, residential units, and retail outlets.

The term “skyscraper” originated in the late 19th century, initially referring to buildings with 10 to 20 stories—an impressive feat at the time. Since then, advancements in construction techniques and materials have enabled the development of much taller and more complex structures.

One of the defining features of modern skyscrapers is their use of a steel frame, which supports non-load-bearing curtain walls. These curtain walls are either suspended from the structural framework above or rest on it below, eliminating the need for traditional load-bearing walls. Some early skyscrapers featured steel frames that allowed for taller load-bearing walls than those possible with reinforced concrete.

At Macdo Engineering, we bring extensive expertise in the design and construction of skyscrapers. Our focus on advanced engineering techniques, structural integrity, and innovative solutions ensures that every high-rise project we undertake meets the highest standards of safety, functionality, and architectural excellence.
